Does anybody have any more information about the two new fire boats?  All I've been able to find is the original specs that were sent out for bid and the actual contract document showing who the winning bidder was.  I'm sure there's more information out there, I'm just not sure where to look.

The only thing i know is that it will have a boat ramp on the back. Like the ones used by the navy seals to launch off the smaller boats. Learned this when i was at rescue 1 not sure how true it is but it sounds cool.

Yes it has a boat ramp.  Look at http://www.nycfire.net/images/fireboats/Layout1.jpg  in the top left you see the small boat.

Last I head they went out to bid,  plans did get made by Robbert Allen, (They won a bid to design the boat).

I did a search of the New York City purchasing website and found the following information:

CONSTRUCTION OF TWO (2) FAST RESPONSE FIREBOATS - Competitive Sealed Bids - PIN# 057070000479 - AMT: $53,999,897.98 - TO: Eastern Shipbuilding Group. Inc. 1300 Allanton Road, Panama City, FL 32404
Vendor Source # 44462
Published 1/9/2008

Based on this can looks like the contract was let in January.  I've checked the company's web site but there's no additional information on it.

Tentative plans call for a 57-foot Safe Boat International vessel to replace the ?Kane,? which would become a reserve boat.
