New Tillers

The date for opening the bids for the new tillers has been changed from February 2nd to February 9th.
 
Seems odd that no bids were received. There are a number of cities that do use them. Baltimore, Philadelphia and cities on the west coast to say the least plus a number of smaller departments.
The FDNY's super extensive warranty requirements could be the reason. It has discouraged some bidders in the past.
 
Fleet Services is canvassing rear mount companies about converting to TDA's for the upcoming order.
A few companies are interested, largely due to the difficulty they now have with navigating response areas.

Uh, ya, you "quoted" Neptunes question, & my guess, so what you are saying is you answered his question with my guess, which was the correct answer? l think l understand it now.

Jogging my memory so some things might not be 100% correct on this:
TL84 became L84 around 2005. TL84s last truck was a 2003 Seagrave Arielscope 75' and went to TL85. TL85 known as Monster Truck as they are the 95' tower on Staten Island were for a time period downsized to a 75' ladder because their 2002 95' had a lot of issues with the chassis placing them in 1994 75' spares for prolonged periods of time. At that time I don't think the department really had any 95' spares. The 95' arielscope ultimately became BOT but later would serve at ladder 12 in Manhattan sometime in 2008/9 after their 1999 95' got damaged somehow. Ladder 84 received a 2001 Seagrave 100' rearmount in 2005 which was ex-BOT which they ran until 2012 when they got their current rig: 2012 Ferrara 100' rearmount. Ladder 85 ran Ladder 84's 2003 75' arielscope until it was replaced in 2014 by a 2014 75' Arielscope which was immediately replaced by a 2014 Seagrave 95' arielscope once again bearing the Monster Truck titles and is once again the only 95' arielscope on Staten Island.

I believe TL85 was at 9/11 operating with their 1991 Mack 95'. I still remember that truck and is still one of my all time favorite looking rigs.
TL 21 had an RM in the later '70s as well. I live across the street from E37/40 and then RM 21 would relocate there from time to time

What companies could easily convert to a Tiller?
 
I doubt it. Won't fit in many quarters.
I agree with tom113 as far as pre 70's but remember that the RM's are shorter then the TDA's and over the years renovations happened like weight rooms, expand kitchens, bathrooms, etc which might exclude those houses.
 
In the old Neighborhood L-43 AND L-26 Both had American Lafrance Tillers. Fastest rigs in the City. L-4 Fits a Tiller I have seen L-6 on a relocation there a few times.
