Those '53 and '56 ALF tillers were true workhorses! L17 & L28 had their '53's for 15 years, from 1953 to 1968 which were the toughest of the early "War Years".

Thanks for the picture of E 248.  I worked in that house for 8 years until they moved to Snyder Avenue in 1972.  The back room where we ate and watched TV used to be the stalls for the horses.

There were 13 that were originally assigned to: 1, 2, 3, 4, 23, 25, 26, 29 (Bx), 45, 102, 110, 114 & 131. They were in first line service into the 70's when they were replaced by rearmounts or tower ladders. These Bronx ladder co's. had these reassigned to them in the early 70's: L32 (ex-L102), L38 (ex-L1, L8, L125) after a '69 ALF, L50 (ex-L23). ;)  There were also 7 similar 1962 models originally assigned to: ladders: 7, 12, 22, 31, 41, 127(destroyed in Jamaica gas explosion on 1/13/67) & 129. L31's was reassigned in 1969 to L151 and L41's had theirs into the 70's.

Thanks Gman. I remember L41 having an ALF tiller before their tower ladder but I thought it was a 68 or 69.

L41 had their '62 ALF from 1962 to 1973 when it was replaced with a 1973 Mack CF Tower Ladder. Ladder 29's 1960 ALF was replaced with a 1971 Seagrave rearmount followed by a 1974 Mack Tower Ladder. ;)
