I particularly follow Queens - anyone know who dispatcher 123 and 268 are? - two of my faves.  We ought to do a Dispatcher Idol contest - something to do when my wife is watching American Idol!

When the move to 911 was made official he, and others, jumped ship to avoid it. Queens and Bronx wont move for another 3 to 7 years when the new facility is built in Da Bronx.

Frank, when the new dispatch center is done in the Bronx, will ALL the FDNY Dispatching be done there, including all Boros and EMS ?

When the second facility is done it will be able to handle the entire 911 system but will normally carry half the load. The other half will be in the current facility. Each building will be a backup to the other. As for us, 3 boroughs will be in the current building, 2 in the building yet to be built. I don't know how EMS and PD will split.

Thanks Frank, so as I understand it, The Bronx and Manhatten will be in the new building, in the Bronx right.  And the current dispatch center you are in now with Brooklyn/Queens will also house Staten Island. Or will S.I. go to the new building. Sorry to bother you again.

We're not there yet. Some time in September for us as of last week. (It keeps changing.) SI is supposed to go before us but they're waging a separate battle to stay put.

I do but do you expect me to tell? :)

A well tuned Google search will yield the answers. You'll need more than 1 keyword and exclude results that contain "porche" and "WTC".

Making me work!! Thanks - If Google doesn't work I'll call my old grammar school friend Eddie Kilduff!!

What's going on with the Yak - he seems to be working Brooklyn a lot - miss him in Queens - like his take charge manner and demeanor

It's summer time. There's lots of OT as many people catch beach fever. You'll hear a few people working across the floor.

Frank,

When the moves are complete, will each borough still run completely independent?

Thanks
