Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg flanked by Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta announced on September 21st during a brief meeting at city hall that the fire department in conjunction with the city has recently placed an order for 5 new, ?state-of-the-art? engines to be built by Seagrave Fire Apparatus of Clintonville, Wisconsin. According to Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta, Seagrave Fire Apparatus will be specifically designing and incorporating some unique features to the existing all-stainless steel Marauder II to meet the department?s requirements. Some unique features mentioned in brief included incorporating enclosed pump panels within the Marauder II?s cab and custom flame graphics. The new apparatus which are projected to be completed and delivered by Septmeber 2008 will begin service in the Bronx replacing the current engines at companies 75, 60, 94, 46 and 96.

Any truth to this Tommy?

CanMan.

Sounds like someone playing around.

Here is the statement from Seagrave.

Seagrave Fire Apparatus (SFA) employees from the engineering, manufacturing, sales and service departments, including CEO, Scott Mintier made up a 9-man team, which assembled in New York City last month with members of FDNY Management & Apparatus Committee and The Department of Citywide Administrative Service (DCAS) to kick-off preconstruction meetings on the recently awarded 69 Pumper order.

FDNY is making the move to a "Split-Tilt" cab, so a new Marauder II Pumper was on site to be examined.  SFA will be specifically designing and incorporating some unique features to the existing all-stainless steel Marauder II to meet the department?s requirements.  A prototype unit is scheduled to be delivered before the end of the year.

If it comes from bloomberg and scarpetto, than pay no attention to it. They really have no clue and would let the fd respond with a scooter.

I just heard that another Marauder II pumper has been added to the original order to replace E-311's rig which was totalled in that serious accident last month.

What exactly do you mean by "Engine Covers"?

Then Engine Covers separates the cab in half. They cover the engine. If ill find some pictures ill post them.

New rigs won't have the Engine in the back between the members.  It will be under the front seats.  You will have two seats backwards, pretty much in the same spot as now.  The two seats forward will be in the middle, not next to the door.  It will look like the rigs which had all seats facing backwards.

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't 53 truck's donated Spartan have that kind of seating already?

What is that drawn above the bump up of the cab?
It's a toolbox like many current FDNY engines have now for storing water rescue or hazmat equipment. It will be mounted on the higher rear section of the cab because the front section tilts forward for engine servicing.
