I know a lot of my NYC Buddies won't be too happy to hear this.

But the results are in for the BEST PIZZA in the entire country.

Yes my friends; "I was Right".

Here it is folks. With locations in Yonkers, NY., Danbury, Waterbury, Manchester, Fairfield, and West Hartford, Ct., The Mohegan Sun Casino, Warwick, RI., as well as Burlington, Chestnut Hill, and Watertown, Mass.
With the original in New Haven, Ct opening way back in 1925.

It is named NUMBER 1 - "AGAIN" across the nation.

NYCFIRE members like "mikeindabronx", "jbendick", "tbendick", "johnny gage", "fdce54", "CFDMarshall", "mack", and of course their Number 1 patron, Mr "NFD2004" can attest to it's great flavor.

Can you guess ?

I’ll throw in my 2 cents seeings is how i drive down Wooster street every Thursday and Friday and See how busy Pepe’s and Sally’s are. But let me tell you something.
You couldn’t pay me to eat at these places (yes I have had their pizza before). But the burnt crust is for the birds. New York Pizza All the way

THANK YOU VERY MUCH Brad for posting these pictures for me. As they say; "a picture is worth a thousand words".

To ALL my NYC buddies, I think these pictures speak for themselves. Those people aren't standing in line to collect their welfare checks. But rather waiting to get inside of their favorite Pizza Restaurant. Yet, in conducting on scene interviews, throughout that large crowd waiting to go inside for their "favorite" pizza pie, there are many New Yorkers who have left the five boros of NYC, then drive the 75 mile trip on the very busy I-95 in Connecticut, just to get a spot in line at their favorite pizza place. The one that has been ranked NUMBER 1 - 4 years in a row, as the BEST PIZZA in the Entire Country.

As for my good buddy Brad, "signal 73", I am certainly grateful to him for once again posting these pictures for his Uncle Wilfred. I'm actually kind of glad that he isn't standing in line like so many others, because that is One LESS person that I have to wait to get a seat and thrown down one of Pepe's LARGE Meat Special Pies. YUMMY.

Gentlemen, your comments were all well taken. But there really can be "ONLY ONE WINNER". By the popular vote, that WINNER IS - ONCE AGAIN - Pepe's Pizza.

Rev, it's a strange northeastern phenomenon that almost defies description. To make it, you start with a round piece of cardboard, slather it with a glob of red goop that is the scrapings from the bottom of a week-old vat of ketchup (not catsup . . . which is, as it sounds, soup made from ground felines), add several discs of sliced limb from the pepper tree (known as "pepperoni" in some circles), then throw on a handful of curds (remember "curds & whey" from your childhood?) and throw the whole thing in a 500 degree oven until the cardboard and curds both turn mostly black, and serve. The worst part of this disaster is the TOTALLY unfounded notion that somehow these things bear some connection to Italian food. Real Italian food (such as manicotti, lasagna, antipasti, spaghetti bolognese and the like) bears no resemblance whatever to such abortions. My great grandfather's restaurant (Raimondo Braguglia's) was at 13 Broadway, New York, NY. Just across from Bowling Green, and about a block south of the "Charging Bull" statue. It closed in 1935, and the space is now occupied by the Cafe Plaza Deli and a Subway restaurant (yech). So there, SmartA$$ o_O :cool:;)
P.S. It was a REAL Italian restaurant.
P.P.S. If you want to sample menu items, throw Willy in the car and wend your way back down to Virginia, and we'll hook you up.

From a young Willy D during those GREAT Pepe Pie Days of the 1950s til now, other than maybe Maggie Mays in Bayside for their ultra fine Burger Platters, there just aren't any better "joys in life".

Maybe the next Pepe's should open up in Times Square, just in time for the Big New Years Eve celebration.
