Personally, I'm very grateful that I was around during this time to be able to appreciate this "Time of Great Music".

Listening to the tunes on the AM radio while riding around was great then. Sometimes even getting carried away and singing out a few notes along the ride.

What a GREAT time it was. Things were so different then too. I think it's fair to say that most of us who were around then would gladly trade in these days for those old Doo Wop Days.

Things have changed but my interest in this kind of music hasn't. The music went from our AM radios in our cars, to music tape cassettes, to 8 track tape players, to today, those CD players and hook ups using that Doo Wop Music tuned into our cell phones.

But what hasn't changed is that sometimes I find myself riding along, playing a couple of CDs, and "still" trying to sing those songs that were once so popular that were played on the radio 5 or 6 "decades" ago.

During that time, most of us "Baby Boomers" really didn't know how lucky we were to be a part of this Doo Wop Music. Or that we'd still be listening or singing to this music 50 or 60 years later.

Remember all the car songs of the 1950s and 1960s? Did any of them make any sense?

I don't know if this would actually qualify under the Great Doo Wop Music Era, but if you grew up during those days, I'm sure you'll remember these two ladies. These two songs were very popular at one time.

Actually, in my younger days, I kinda had a thing for each one of them :). So I invited them to join me at my favorite Micky Ds on Webster Ave near Clairmont Park in the Bronx. I invited them to join me for a Big Mac and some fries and I told them it's a good spot to hang out if you want to see some work.

Anyway, I told them when I'd be there, but they just never showed up.

These are the two ladies I'm talking about, singing their famous hits back then. Maybe you remember them too.

Mary O'Brien, aka, Dusty Springfield put out a record or two with her brother before she went solo. Of course, they recorded as "The Springfields." Rest In Peace Mary and thanks for the music and the memories.

Willy, after that story, I'd have to agree - you are some piece of work!

That is some offer to turn down for any lady - a Big Mac in a Bronx McDonalds and then buffing jobs with Willy D.

JOEY & DOREEN ARMINIO & THE FAMILY....  https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=13&v=88fkjhbmtqs

This music video made just last year, proves quite well that there is "still" a strong interest in the Days of Doo Wop Music some 40 - 50 years later. Live shows such as this still entertain the crowds. Most of us can sing along too as we all remember the words to these songs. (plus all the other songs that have been posted here).

Some of us might forget our own names these days, but we didn't forget the words to all those songs.

And then there was a famous song that I think was written about a few of the guys right here from this web site. These guys were a very Special Breed and only "they" can fully relate to what this song was all about. The rest of us just wish that we had what it took.

So Do You Remember this One ?

Thanks "manhattan", "these guys were good".

Back in the day, myself, my two brothers, and my sister used to do our best to sing these songs like these guys. I remember one Fourth of July Family Picnic when we brought out the record player and put a show on for the relatives. I don't know how good we were but it was fun anyway.

Yes Frank, "fdce54", some have said there is some resemblance. I don't know if that's so, BUT, I sure wish I could sing like him. "There sure ain't no resemblance there".
