Time for a Get Together

I just do not want to see anyone standing out side the gate while someone, remain nameless at this time, inside enjoying himself!!!!
 
Make sure IDs are not expired.  Usually military bases need government issue (federal or state) picture ID which has issue date.  Drivers licenses, military IDs, passports - all acceptable. 

If a second ID is required by the base commander - FD ID, government CAC, employment ID.  Make sure it has a picture and you are the one in the picture.

Anyone who has any questions - send me a PM and I will check to make sure your forms of ID are OK.  We don't want anyone shot trying to get on base (like Willy D and Frank at the Pentagon a few months ago.)
 
I am not going, so I have no dog in this fight. But 2 foto ID;s, I carry a debit card and my liscense, that is it.
 
Grump, that's exactly what I had and it didn't work. "Mack" is right. We live in a dangerous world today, and all kidding aside, "they ain't messin' around". They wouldn't even accept "fdce54"s photo ID from Con Ed (NYC / Westchester County Gas/Electric).

We both agreed that we are glad these precautions are being taken. I guess it has to be done.

So anybody joining us, "Atlas" and "Mack" are right. You need those two proper photo IDs. And if you have any questions, send "Mack" a pm.
 
I hate to say it, but with all the problems around the world today, I do not blame the military. I have base ID & also base ID for my vehicle. Please make sure you turn your names into Willy D so that I can turn the list into the base a head of time. This might reduce some of the problems. I am working with the club manager to take care of this for us.

I really wish I could have made this one as I'll be in NY next week to attend the 280-132 centennial.I sincerely hope everyone has a good time with decent weather,and maybe chip in and buy Atlas dinner for all the planning and setting things up.      :)

Ok so an update I am coming tomorow, im going to push myself to be at the best wester by 9 am, but the trains are running screwy from the bronx like usual.
 
Grumpy says to all who are going enjoy the friendship. Guys from all over who understand the needs of the fire service. Wish I was there, but I drive for a living, week-ends are off limits. Just local but sometimes. Glad to say I can post on a site that is top notch. Love Boston, like to give info on Chicago, lived in both, now Chicago. Any time any member who needs info, hit me up, will try to answer your question. Wish could I pay for a Mickey's  D double cheeseburger!  Again enjoy the friendship we can enjoy. Just to say for my son. HOORAH! See you on I-55 in Pontiac as a Illinois State Trooper after 11/21. Gotta say, a great wife , a great DIL, and best of all, a great son. We buffed Chicago, caught some jobs. But after a USMC as a CFR/FF could not get a job. But Chicago screwed the tests! James was qualified, know what to do, but the liberals and the lawyers said otherwise. Well your decision/ass, not mine!
 
Thoughts & Prayers for da' Gang in Brooklyn & Surrounding environs today. I'm Real Disappointed I couldn't join 'youse' in my Ole Hometown. But, i Did have a 12-day Trip to Fl. Last Week, so, i guess
i can't complain.  :( !

  Progress Report number 1 on the Get Together for Oct., 2013,,,I think Everybody would tell you that "it went Great". I think it is safe to say that EVERYBODY really had a Great Time. The weather cooperated and we all really need to thank "Atlas" for the job he did in organizing this event. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was well planned out and very well organized. Each member also recived a large packet that "Atlas" had taken the time to make up for us.

  We also need to thank the FDNY members that took the time to explain their operations to us and to answer each and every question that any one of us had. We also want to thank the two FDNY Volunteer Depts (Roxbury and Oceanic) for all their time in explaining their operations to us. Everybody really treated us great.

  "Atlas" also invited along with us one of the FDNY Fire Department photographers and also a retired Chief of the FDNY EMS. Two individuals that we were honored to have with us.

  I think there were plenty of laughs along the way too. We really do have some talented individuals here. "They just don't know it". We also had some great chow from Fort Hamilton Army Base and our chow stop at Perkins in Staten Island.

  I don't have the exact amount, but I think we collected about $300.00 for a donation to The Wounded Warriors Project for our appreciation. "Atlas" is also very much involved in supporting that project.

  I would also like to thank each individual that joined our group. They really are a great group of guys. And I think the members and places that we visited would also agree with that. They came from Tennesse, Virginia, New Jersey, Brooklyn, The Bronx, Orange County, NY and Connecticut. They flew in, drove in, and took mass transit. Site owner TBendick, and his father, a retired FDNY Captain also spent time with us. We were also invited to stop by to see site member and retired Chief "68jk09" but most of us were unable to do that because of a prior commentment. Thanks Chief, "we do appreciate that".

  We are starting to talk about next years trip. Probably around the same time of year and on a Friday/Saturday. We've talked about a few FDNY/EMS stops along with a few other fire dept points of interest.
 
Thanks to Atlas for organizing a terrific tour.  It was first class and we were welcomed everywhere we went:  Squad 1; the 9-11 First Responder memorial in Coney Island; E 329; Breezy Pt VFD; Captain John Bendick's home; Chief K's place; Ft Hamilton US Army installation; Marine 9; Engine 154; Oceanic H&L; Engine 168/Bn 23/EMS Bn 23; and Rescue 5/E 160/D 8. The tours of NYC neighborhoods damaged by Sandy was great.  Everyone had fun and learned a lot.  Good company.  Good time.  Thanks to all involved.  About $500 was donated to the Wounded Warrior Project - a good cause to take care of our wounded warriors.

  Thanks Joe, I wasn't really sure on the amount that was collected for the Wounded Warriors Project. I wanted to be very conserative when I put the amount up there. But $500 is really GREAT. Thanks guys for all you did.

  For most of us, it was our first time meeting Bill J. (Parkave32), and Anesti T (anesti), who I already knew. Both gentlemen from the Bronx. It was also the first time that all of us met Chatt H (a firefighter with the Nashville Fire Dept). I think he is working on signing up to become a member of this site.

  And of course none of this would have been at all possible if it wasn't for the guy who started this whole thing. A fire Lt with the FDNY named Tommy B. When I first came across this site, it was just the kind of thing I was looking for. And I thought how about telling a few stories about the days when I used to chase the rigs and ride with a few companies during the busy FDNY War Years (My Younger Buff Years). And to give these FDNY members a little credit for what they did. I thought, "I'm sure there might be a few interested in reading that". So that's when this whole thing started for me. Both Tommy and his father were able to join us for the Friday evening dinner at Fort Hamilton. His father, retired FDNY Captain John B spent many years on some of the busiest companies during those extremely busy War Years of the FDNY.

  Even though, those who joined our group will tell you, "I" took much abuse during our two day Get Together. I still consider myself previlaged to have such good friends. Another interesting part of our Get Together, is that we found out that Joe M (mack) grew up as a kid just a block around the corner from our hotel. I enjoyed talking with him, as he told us how the neighborhood used to be with the little Mom/Pop businesses along the Ave.

  Thanks Kenny (Atlas) for all you did. And thanks Lt Tommy B for being the guy to get this whole thing started. Thanks to all those who took the time with us to explain their operation. And thanks to the members who attended for their contribution to the Wounded Warriors Fund. I'd say it was a very successful and enjoyable Get Together.
 
A great time with a lot of good friends is priceless.  special thanks to John and Tom B. for this site and Ken for time and efforts with planning these meetings
 
I would like to add my thanks to Atlas and to Willy D for all of the work in organizing this get together. This was my first time meeting all of the members from this site who went on the tour, and I would like to thank all of them for making me feel welcome. I would urge any member who can make next years get together to do so. This is a great bunch of guys and you will really have a great time, and learn alot about FDNY that you most likely do not know.
