Total FDNY houses?

Hi All, First post, w00t!

So I was hoping for some clarification on the total number of firehouses in the five boroughs.

There's a Google map of the houses and also a public NYC list, and they both show approx 219 houses (including the marines).

But in the FDNY store near the Rockefeller it states 255 houses (written on the wall).

Is the difference maybe decommissioned houses? Appreciate any insight.

Perhaps it is including EMS stations and maybe possibly Shops Facilitys and 9 Metro

225 FDNY buildings house active fire companies
37 FDNY buildings house active EMS units
2 of the above house both fire and EMS units

260 Total buildings with responding units

This isn’t a trick question, but does that include locations that really aren’t considered traditional fire/ems buildings such at SOC (CTU, RB, TSU1, SOC units ) and the Fire Academy (HMB, Mask Service) where units respond from?

That is how the locations were counted. It might not be how they are officially counted but the total matches. The Shops, for example, were not counted.
