An 1830 High Eagle ....  https://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-Fire-Department-Leather-Fire-Helmet-1830/312628899519?hash=item48ca226ebf:g:hnAAAOSw-Nhc5rW1

Actually the finial is a Lion instead of the usual eagle. (If this is the helmet you are referring to above on e-bay)

You are correct...i did not even notice that ...i was just surprised that he wanted to clean it & paint it a different color ?

Here is another Lion finial...something Capt JB and E23 members could have on their lids...

The Canal Street Dragon fighters could fight the dragons with a dragon finial...

And the Phoenix would rise on top of Ladder 5's lid...

Brooklyn FD ( Brklyn meant "Broken Land" in Dutch. Anyway, some Broken-land fire innuendos:

And what Man Cave would be without a nine piece canvas helmet mural wall hanging and a couple of lid lamps!

Thanks JK...Apparently E 56 was disbanded then E 74 moved into their old quarters. Dr. Archer was assigned to E 56 and responded for medical requests.... Maybe more to this story?

^^^^ There was a "smoke & mirrors" issue with this FH...after ENG*56 was disbanded SQ*6 was quartered  in the FH.....when SQ*6 was disbanded ENG*74 was moved from being quartered with LAD*25 & remained there so the Community would not feel they lost a Unit ..."however they did"....to this day one less Unit in the area.... this was more "modern day" events ....Dr. Archer with the Ambulance started there around 1946 i believe.
