Looking at Lou's pictures there is one of a man with a blue shirt with E 225 on the collar, wearing a white chief's hat. I can't see front faceplate. Please explain. Thanks

He is wearing Acting Battalion 39 shield. Referred to as ABC / ABCing.....it’s when a captain will be acting battalion chief for a tour or so due to issues with manpower, a chief tapping out, etc.

Also an ABC will be in-charge when arriving at the scene; however, if it's a 10-75, then the 10-75 assigned chief takes command upon arrival and the ABC becomes the firefighting/interior chief. I wonder if they ever get in a bind where 2 chiefs are out and say the 39 & the 44 both have ABC's? They often run together....
