Television from a different time

Talking about news and history.. WCBS-880 news is closings down. They announced it yesterday.

Although that in terms of news I not necessarily always agreed to them... But we can't take away the fact that as driving in NYC and switching between 880 and 1010 isn't childhood memories.

I personally isn't that old but still old enough to be part of the history..

On that horrible morning that changed our lives forever at 8:48am Tom Kaminski On Chopper 880 was the first one to report "Something has happened at the World Trade Center".

Yes "DJ Nat", it was WCBS - 880 news that first gave that report of the horrible morning which changed our lives forever.

I enjoyed listening to WCBS, especially heading down from Connecticut on I-95 to my buff trips in NYC.
Their traffic reports were always a big help on delays throughout NYC.

I also enjoyed listening to WCBS even here some 130 miles away, with the latest events involving the FDNY or NYPD.
They gave excellent news coverage

This Television series ran from 1977 - 1983 called "CHiPS".
It was about two California Highway Patrol Motorcycle Officers

"I do - it was one of my favorites just like the TV Show Emergency".

I think that the 1991 release by Bobby, "What Did You Do With Your Old 45's" was a great "nostalgic" tune. Did you guys ever hear it??

Charlie "memorymaster", yes, I have heard that song sung by Bobby Vinton.
I saw him in person way back in 2005 at the Mohegan Sun Arena and that song sure brought back some great memories of a different time.

So, Charlie why don't you and I, and I'm sure a few others here, take a look back to a time of those old 45s.

I think you'll like this one as Bobby sings "What did you do with your old 45s", we are reminded of those great days with pictures from back in our much younger days.

O I recall many days n my dad's days off from FD, he had a part-time job (which was the norm) of going to the record distributors on 10th Avenue in Manhattan. He loaded up a panel truck with new records and made the rounds of bars, restaurants, etc., any place that had jukeboxes. The old records removed and the new put in. The distributors didn't want the old ones returned so guess where they went? I recall many days listening as the old phonograph was playing music in our living room. The 50's were great!!

I miss the wrestling shows on Saturdays. Long before these soap operas the have now.

"OldGoat", I sure enjoyed watching that wrestling too.

Guys like Gorilla Monsoon, Roddy Piper including his "Pipers Pit", Owen Hart, Andre the Giant, Bam Bam Bigelow, Randy Savage and his beautiful manager "Miss Elizabeth". Big Boss Man and the Lady Wrestler name Sherri Martel.

My favorite part of the show was the interviews conducted by Mean Gene Oakerlund who is no longer with us.

Mangers like "Bobby the Brain" Heehan or the "Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart.

From the TV Shows to Wrestling - it's sure been a great ride.
And buffing too before these 800 mhz channels and encryption

I guess being old really isn't so bad after all.
