A Great Fellow & FDNY BROTHER.... I first met Ray many , many years ago thru my good Friend Howie Carlson RIP.....Howie had known Ray way , way back when Howie was a MANH Dispatcher (before his appt to The FDNY) & Ray was in LAD*2....for many years Ray was a Chauffeur in LAD*2 & put much effort into maintaining the Rig in Great condition with much attention to detail....thru the yrs. we would meet up with Ray at events... Ray was fully involved in the FDNY life & was known by so many in "the circle" both here & outside of NYC....when I was a Covering CPT back in late 1993 sometime working in 117 then UFO for awhile next door in 263 Ray had just Retired but left his mark in the detail of 117s Rig.

^^^^^^ Another FRED GLESS post from another site.....by a poster there QUOTE...

Appt. 6/1/1968 Ret. 1/1/1995

A memorial mass will be held in his honor tomorrow Monday December 2, 2024 at Holy Name of Mary Church on E Jamaica Ave in Valley Stream, NY at 10:45AM.

Freddy was part of the first batch of probies assigned to the newly created L-103-2 out of the academy on 8/10/1968, the same day the company was organized. He later worked in L-134 and then E-277 as a Lt then ultimately retiring from L-158.

Freddy was a great guy with a lot of good stories, I was lucky enough to get to know him when I joined the vollies in Valley Stream out of high school where his brother Bobby also was a member. Bobby worked in E-224 and E-329, and passed away in 2016 from his 9/11 related illness.

Please keep the Gless family in your thoughts and prayers. May Freddy and Bobby both Rest in Peace.

RET LT DENNIS O'BRIAN...
REST IN PEACE BROTHER.....PRAYERS FOR THE COMFORT OF THE FAMILIES.

Dennis was originally a FF in ENG*15 in the early '70s .....one day at work there was a purse snatching & Dennis was chasing the perp...while running through the Projects he tripped over one of the chains suspended a little off the ground along the walkways....he got a bad leg injury & wound up with a pin in place & much rehab..... at the time the Job was putting a Light Duty Member in Busy Units to assist the Company Officer's with paperwork working Monday to Friday days.....Dennis was assigned LD as the LAD*108 "Company Administrative Aide".......Dennis held this position for quite awhile as he continued his fight to regain Full Duty status .... he could have gotten 3/4s but he wanted to return to Full Duty....when he finally did get FD he was well known in our FH as good all around guy very interested in The Job..... CPT JW asked Dennis remain in 108 as a Full Duty FF & he jumped on the opportunity.... Dennis quickly adapted to all the Truck positions & wound up as an LCC who knew the Rig inside & out & also was an excellent Mechanic as well as a Mechanical Draftsman as well as an Electrician & a Plumber.who would pitch in & share his knowledge & time with any of The Brothers.....Dennis after Promotion to LT was assigned to ENG*307....it was always great to see & talk with him at UFOA Meetings......his last battle was with Parkinson's. ......

Arrangements ...

Funeral Mass Monday January 6 9:45am.
