Just this week 3 LODD's, the EMS Lt. stabbed and a retired EMS Lt. and Capt. WTC victims. God help us all. Rest In Peace to these 3 and to all who have preceded them from all forms of savagery that seems to be so abundant.
I knew and worked with both of these ladies at one time or another. Every time I look a person from the past pops up as having died from WTC. God rest them all, EMS, FD, PD and all others who were involved with "The air is clean to breath" farce.

Back in the mid 60's that job would have been box 4593. There was no 4892 as that box location would have been in the middle of the swamps east of the old "Speeds" airport on Linden Place.
Since you mentioned Taxi, there was the "911 Taxi." It seemed that in the wee hours of the morning, especially weekends, some misguided individuals would disembark from the Staten Island ferry in St. George. Transit bus service was sparse at these hours so the upstanding citizen would call 911...
From what I understand, although not gospel truth, the term was coined by P.D. in that a person(s) needed transportation to a hospital. That's what I was told many years ago and the term still exists within NYPD, FDNYEMS and FDNY.
My opinion is that the City and the unions could care less about the retirees and will do what's ever good for them while touting to us how they saved everyone money. You were used and abused for 20, 25, 30 or more years and now your a has been. It's disgusting to say the least which I just did...
