11/9/23 Manhattan All Hands Box 1377

As a rule of thumb, 8 stories and below will generally get a 10-75, above 8 stories gets 10-76 or 10-77. I realize it’s not a hard and fast rule. Also, in NYC, is the code that buildings 8 stories and above require a standpipe system? thanks

In my opinion that was an excellent press conference. All involved stated the facts, stayed on message, and were united from all areas of specialization.

Hartford, Ct 2nd Alarm Apartment Fire10/16/23

It looks like all 11 engines & 5 ladders were sent. Do they have recall for reserve pieces? If not, I’m surprised they only brought 2 & 2 in to cover the city.

    10/14/33 Brooklyn 3rd Alarm Box 2242

Just curious, did the citywide tour commander not respond because of Relief Only for the 3rd? Maybe he didn’t go 10-84? Unusual not to see the staff chief not on a 3rd.

Groton, Ct 2nd Alarm Fire at Groton Submarine Base 9/1/23

Is there anyone from the Groton area who can explain the emergency services in Groton? I usually can figure this stuff out but I’m stumped. It appears there are 7 fire districts & 2 ambulance services. It looks like all of Groton is covered by one police department. Then there is the U.S. Navy...

    8/16/23 Queens 3rd Alarm Box 4374

Would/Could they pawn off the elevator and just go to the fire? Stuck elevator vs a 10-75 right in front of you. I would think a redirect would be reasonable.

Jupiter Florida to cancel contract with PBCFR and start its own fire department

I agree with your line of thinking. Also, the new Jupiter fire chief could come from anywhere, but I am guessing that some lieutenants, captains and chief officers may jump from PBCFR to Jupiter. After all they will need a command structure and who better to hire than people who know your city!

    Relocations

I’m not an expert but from my understanding, the FDNY upper echelon wants at least one Special Operations piece (rescue or squad) in each borough available. Being centrally located is optimal, but that’s not the primary objective. Queens, Brooklyn & the Bronx each have 2 squads. If the rescue...

    Loading up the box

Welcome Kulyenuch! I see you’re new and this was your first post. The term “loading up the box” has a specific meaning within the FDNY. You may be referring to a different procedure from a different department. With the FDNY, it’s not the Incident Commander who loads the box. It is done by the...
