Twoteamtease...Right on the money, as usual. 17/18....er....15/18 first due all up and down Baruch Drive. 110/120 is the second set in from Houston....130/140 being first....interconnected I believe above the first floor lobby. Easy first to arrive box for 28/11. Baruch Drive is a narrow...
On the lighter side..working a night tour..28 has the meal and is preparing an Italian feast. Box comes in…signal 5…engine only. Before getting on the rig, 28’s chef yells “stir the sauce”. It’s misheard and guys start yelling “second source!”. Asses and elbows, guys sliding the pole, donning...
Responded to those buildings a thousand times. Projects along Avenue D and Columbia Street. Unlike, for example, Schomborg Plaza, these were originally incinerators later converted to compactors. Can't tell you how many times we either lit up the blockage from above and waited for it to...
Memorymaster....I believe you're correct. All the old assignment cards sitting in the housewatch desk drawer only went to a 5th alarm. They included responses to the fire as well as relocations. There were numerous special calls on top of the 5th but I don't recall ever actually hearing a fire...
28/11 both 2nd due at 466. Got a pic of our running board on my phone but have no idea how to post it..lol. 466 ET both in black (second due). Red woulda been first and R for 28 meant third (in reserve). Was no FAST truck when they put up the board. Stay safe.
Tiny little attached PDs. First of many jobs in there....pulled up....one occupancy is roaring...thought we'd lose the whole block. Got in 2nd to 155 and actually put my stick up three addresses down....figuring I'd "define the perimeter" as if it was a taxpayer. Give guys a way off as this...
Sorry Bud....When I used the term "critique", I wasn't implying you were being critical of the operation. Can't think of a job I ever went to where either in the kitchen afterwards, or in my head later....I didn't go over what had happened and asked myself what I could have done better. We...
Start by saying I'm not a fan of apparatus placement critique using either video or pics that don't start upon arrival. The conditions at the time of the pictures may very well be quite different from when the ECC/LCC pulled up. (and had literally 10 seconds to decide on placement). That said...
Yes...11 Truck is definitely 3rd due to 418. Strange assignment....I can remember standing on the apron and seeing a job that we did not respond to on the initial box. Before the FAST truck was in existence we went on the second. Even stranger is that 28/11's home box is 419.
Sad news. Got to know Cookie through the retirees association down here in Brevard County. Always fun to be around, always enjoyed marching in our little St Patrick's Day parade down here. As you said, TEM....he was very proud of his time in 114. Really good guy...I'll miss him. Rest in...
Always had a lot of respect for 165...excellent truck company. Terrific chauffeurs. Never quite got the rationale for laying the aerial on the front porch. They did it a lot back then as well. Felt it would tie me up too long. 133 preferred a couple of small portables to the porch, and if you...
Tiny little run down looking attached flat roof pd's. Had quite a few jobs there...place would be roaring on arrival. First one I went to in there, I actually sized it up and put my 2nd due stick to the roof 3 or 4 occupancies down. Figured that's where the egress off the roof was gonna end up...
Boy that's brutal. I realize being the FAST truck is something most don't love but is necessary in today's job. But being FAST (135) then seeing YOUR relocator (127) walk past you and go to work would drive me crazy. Just sayin'.
