NY Post says 65% of FDNY firefighters, officers and EMS have been vaccinated.
But, WPIX channel 11 says 59% of FDNY and 69% of NYPD have been vaccinated. So who knows!
I'd be willing to bet some have been vaccinated, but didn't tell the job because it's none of their business!
It wasn't too long ago that FDNY Fire & EMS were being praised for their courageous work during the very dark days of the pandemic. Shift, after shift, after shift of seeing so much death and suffering - all while risking their life and possibly the life of loves ones. And a lot from the ranks...
Just saw this story on FoxNews.com.
Photos show dark, heavy smoke issuing from 20 story residential high-rise as flames consume the building.
Mayor says no reports if injuries or deaths and that they feel sure everyone evacuated. I appreciate his optimistic attitude, but it looks very bad in...
I believe you are incorrect. RFP was for 80 engines. Bids were made based on selling 80 rigs to the city. You can't then break the contact into smaller pieces.
Well in today's world, where Eskimo Pies has to changes its "offensive name, having so much white and no black could really offend someone. On a serious note I really liked the look of the all red rigs on the War Years. Everybody has red with a white roof. The World's Largest Fire Department...
Heard a rumor that this rig will have a huge foam tank and little to no water on board. It will function as it's own foam tender? I could envision this monster throwing foam long distances especially at stubborn multi alarm brush fires.
I think the name Super Pumper, Super Pumper System should be reserved for the original and its Tenders. This new 'off the shelf' engine is not even close to the original. Isn't history worth preserving? Maybe Mega Pumper for Mega High Rise buildings?
They are able to move rear mounts and TDAs away from fire building to make space for TLs, so they can do the same for this piece. FDNY already has 6 Satellites and they almost exclusively function as hose wagons for LDH, even though the have huge deck guns. So I would say depending on the...
Here's my thinking. It appears Covid 19 will cause a lot of businesses to close and a lot of people to loose their homes. With these additional vacant properties, do you think they will be a target for either arson for profit or pyros?
If you have a serious interest in the FDNY, there is no better "investment" you can make than the purchase of a copy of the book Fire Department of New York - Operational Reference. The best $30 I ever spent!
I'm not affiliated in any way with the book. I just find it indespensible and wanted...
Over the years, I've run across a pic or two of this 'odd ball' rig assigned to Ladder Co. 14. I assume it was a one off, but I've never heard any story behind it. Anyone?
I apologize if this has already been discussed.
