    7/23/23 Queens 3rd Alarm Box 5693

Thanks for all the responses. I think that the computer is trying to provide better coverage. I think that lacking the computer a supervising dispatcher would not send E66 to a distant critical relocation like E251 I can remember back in the day, when a fifth alarm in most of Queens was all...

    7/23/23 Queens 3rd Alarm Box 5693

E 251 is one of the few companies that is always covered with a relocation because they are alone in a large remote district. I don't understand why they would send E66 all the way from the Bronx while both 313 and 306 seem to be available and are much closer

    Engine 213

ENGINE 213 ASSIGNMENTS As a kid I took an interest in E213 and went on the subway to visit them. I was invited to lunch. Great guys and and a neat little house. Awhile back I made an assignment board for them using company locations from an old map. When I listen to the FDNY I follow their...

12/28/20 Staten Island MVA w/ Pin Box 8741

I think that back in the day that during brush fire season at the start of the day shift they would sound a second alarm for a lower Manhattan box for a bunch of companies to ferry over for fire duty and fill ins, Is this correct?

Busiest Engines and Trucks all time

Looking through old WNYF's runs and workers I found that four companies have been in the top 25 in 1902, 1940 and 2016. They are engines 1, 35 and 53 and ladder 14

    NEW FDNY BOOK

I have just published a new book titled "FDNY, Engine 313 and Hook and Ladder 164" that chronicles a firehouse in the proudest fire department in America. This book weaves together stories of heroic firefighters and fires and how the FDNY operated in the 1950?s. The calls, fires and fireman are...

Are there any firehouses that still have the old bell system intact at the watch desks? Does anyone have pictures of these old bell systems at the watch desk?

I have heard the FDNY audio on 9/11 and I was wondering if there is a rundown of the companies that responded that day?

FDNY company interchanges during the war years

FDNY company interchanges during the war years. How did it work? Was it a regular schedule? Did the companies change with the same companies or was it random? Were all boros involved? I know that E313 in queens was part of the interchange who would they exchange with? When did the program start...
