10-66 is transmits the Second Alarm if not already transmitted, the 10-66 Code 1 transmits the next greater alarmI believe transmission of the 10-66 automatically triggers the next higher alarm

Bob, every Division in the city has a Squad . . . .except the 3rd Division. The people you mentioned above the Deputy Mayor, the head of OEM, and the Fire Commissioner, does not include the people of the city of N.Y. and the City Counsel. Keep the statics down and then try to go and get more funding for things like, reopening fire units, more 5-man manning units, more Squads (One per Division). Brothers and sisters just reflect on the number units in the FDNY that have been closed and never reopened. I worked in some units still closed including, Eng. 27, Eng. 17, Eng. 85, Squad 3. They are trying for Eng 67 for Hazmat Tech to take over a lot of the Hazmat Calls off the Squads. They are fully trained Hazmat Tech 2 Firefighters but city doesn’t want to fund them. All Rescue companies runs have dropped a lot with only R2 doing over 2k last year. R1 and R5 are the only rescues assigned to report vehicle entrapments. SQ41 5,566 Runs last year, SQ61 4,628 runs, SQ18 almost 4K. By opening a squad in the 3rd division would be nice but I would told it wouldn’t ever happen anytime soon. First you have to look at opening a Squad in the 3rd how much runs are really gonna get taken away from 41? Not really much since 41 is so close to Manhattan and 61 would still be what they have now. Then the location on where you put the squad in the 3rd Division. You make it 44 you still have to find a new Hazmat Tech Location and it can’t be runs take they take together cause then it’s useless. So if you leave 44 a Hazmat Tech you can’t put a squad on the East Side it would have to be West Side and have to be a single engine. E74 probably doesn’t have any room for a 2nd Piece very tight house and E23 would probably fit but is that to far south? Not happening anytime soon if they can’t even get 67 which is probably highly needed to take hazmat calls off the squads.Bob, every Division in the city has a Squad . . . .except the 3rd Division.
With the proliferation of Li-Ion devices flooding the city, in a fantasy world - it would be ideal if each Division could also have it's own HasMat company. And while you're at it, how about a Rescue company for each division as well, instead of relocating Squads into Rescue companies and into other boroughs when on a busy day, SOC starts running a little thin.
BUT myself and many others still feel that the highest priority should be the rapid placement of that first line into operation, accomplished by having all 197 engines with FIVE-man manning. That would also save resources and eliminate the need for 4 engines on the first alarm, just to get two lines into operation (and reduce the number of relocations.)
Does it need to be a single engine? So if you leave 44 a Hazmat Tech you can’t put a squad on the East Side it would have to be West Side and have to be a single engine. E74 probably doesn’t have any room for a 2nd Piece very tight house and E23 would probably fit but is that to far south?
I know that’s what the issue was for the Hazmat Tech Engine cause E165 and TL85 $$$Does it need to be a single engine?
RAC 3 has been out for over a week the shopsWith all the Light Duty FFs around most of the time there should be a RAC in each DV.....not really necessary to have a new vehicle / Truck for each one.....for quite awhile when the RAC was first established they used a Spare Suburban.
Adding a Squad to the 3rd isn't going to change any of this. All those run numbers you mentioned stem from EMS runs. And I'm not blaming EMS here. These problems stem from the 911 system/people calling for everything, which in turn negatively affect EMS and the fire side. They are trying for Eng 67 for Hazmat Tech to take over a lot of the Hazmat Calls off the Squads. RAC 2 was oos for at least a month or 2 during summer of 2024 due to there not being a spare.RAC 3 has been out for over a week the shops
Got rid of the spare… and nobody lets them use anything

Once again if it Quacks like a Duck and Walks like a Duck then it most likely IS a Duck. The idea of adding so many units to an incident and not transmitting the next alarm or alarms is suspect. This is clearly a way of keeping the public and perhaps the city council, in the dark about the very real fire problems in NYC. This fire was a 7th alarm + no matter what they called it. There is(or was) a handful of pilot programs that involved a reduced response to certain things across different boroughs, I'll see if I can find the sheet when I get home, but for the Bronx it was odors of gasWhat's this reduced response pilot?
