1/25/25 Brooklyn 4th Alarm Box 0155

A little detective work:
E251 was ahead of E209 in response order. That puts them in the Navy Yard. Date is pre-1941.
Response card came from the directory book. Book was issued in 1925 and used until 1929.
Conclusion: This is the response card from 1925.
Wow - So, that puts them back on Clymer St.

Just 3 short blocks north of E213's qtrs..
I guess E251 was still in Hooper St. with 211; otherwise it's along run from 254th St in Glen Oaks Queens
Gone from that assignment from Brooklyn today are 213, BC36, 212, 215, 251, 209
Interesting, no truck on 4th.

13R is a staff chief..

E216 made it in first due.
If it is chief of fire prevention then yes. But if it is a “chief” in fire prevention then no.

I will argue that 229 was first. Only because I was right behind them lol. 216 might’ve given the 10-75 because of where they came in they saw it better?

The Chief that holds that Position (I believe) is an Assistant Chief.

Fire did look fairly advanced but who knows

Fire did look fairly advanced but who knows
only say that because I saw fire prevention “chief” there but they are civilian in chief’s outfit
From where we pulled up the smoke was presenting its self. Maybe where 216 came from they saw fire so, they gave the 75 🤷🏽‍♂️

That was in 1941
Prior to that, they were in their own station at 47/48 Washington Ave in the Navy Yard (along with L119).

Actually, the firehouse was within the Wallabout Market which was torn down at the beginning of WWII and allowed expansion of the adjacent Brooklyn Navy Yard. You can see that the firehouse was built in the Walloon/Belgian/Dutch style of architecture to match the neighborhood.

On February 26, 1920 six members of Engine Company 251 were burned to death while operating at a Brooklyn Gas Light Co. facility on Kent Avenue. They were trapped in a pump house when an oil tank overflowed and exploded. Until 9/11, it was the largest loss of life in a single company at a fire.

Picture I took at this fire of a heads up move from E216 ECC quick thinking using the deck gun to prevent fire spread. Debris had fallen from the top floor and caught trash and siding on the first floor early in the operation. This was a quick move, that may not have appeared to be a major knock to the complete firefighting efforts, but the cascading impacts of an un-contained fire below members operating on the top floor would be catastrophic. Without commiting the manpower of stretching and operating another line for a small remote pocket, the deck gun proved to work great. Just wanted to acknowledge and praise tactical operations from a great company, E216.

Thank you!
While on the topic of old Brooklyn Engines, I couldn't find anywhere an active or disbanded Engine company that used to be qtrd. in the 1950's on Taaffe Place. I think they were somewhere behind the E.P.A. building on Flushing Ave.

Engine Company 209....159 Taaffe Place

does the commissioner have no right to be there in his suit and tie that he usually shows up in?
Nope. Lol
That’s different. His position is of the whole fire department, fire prevention chief(not talking about chief of fire prevention) is of a different caliber, sort of speak.
But I would say that being commissioner in any agency, whether it would be fd or pd or whatever, people would prefer to have someone from within
But we can agree to disagree

Setting aside the rank issue, does anybody know why all of a sudden 13R is responding to (apparently) all multiple alarms?
