Thought the job is not done by any means, I know we all say it, but today proved it even more so, the brothers and sisters out there did an incredible, unbelievable job under absolutely brutal, lousy conditions today. This is what it means to be one of the legends.

Dont thank me. Slow day at work quiet night. The least I can do for the senior guys on this website who have taught us well

Does anyone know what there was only 1 working hydrant?  Were all others frozen with the extremely cold weather or what?

Im interested in know more about the water supply operation at this job if anyone has info please post?

There were problems with frozen hydrants but also hydrant pressure. The pressure in the neighborhood isn't great to begin with, then the demand put on them with all those tower ladders were tough. They were spreading out trying to get different hydrants on different mains.

According to CBS news, they're estimating 2-3 weeks before it's under control.  Not sure who "they" are.

Building housed 4 million boxes of Hospital and NYS court records - all gone

Engine 159 w/ SAT 5 went in over the night from SI

Interesting that they had a fire there are approximately 2 hours before the large fire started.  Make you think the first fire wasn't thoroughly put out and rekindled started the major conflagration.  I wonder if possibly portions of the sprinkler system were taken 00S after the first fire for the heads could be replaced and it was not yet back in service?
