What does the trench do? And how does it get applied.
Picture a trench cut in the roof usually at a distance or a transition point of the building used to prevent the fire from extending the entire length of the roof. works well when coordinated with hose teams and trucks pulling ceilings below. Can be time consuming and fire moves faster than the trench can be opened.

In order to pull the trench on the roof a charge hose line needs to be on the roof. Usually try and do it in the throat or cut the one wing in half. Usually use the bulkhead as a starting or end point

Got there like 25 mins in. Was a real shock when “urgent, we have fire in 2F” came over the air. Seems like debris on fire in the shaft lit up the walls in the F line from the 2nd floor up

Do they hold back Engine 52 & Ladder 52 from leaving the Riverdale section of the Bronx?
Distance wise, they should have been dispatched on the second.

they could’ve not been available or they are aren’t on the alarm plan till then.
