not to be a rumor mill but Staten Island City Councilor Joe Borelli tweeted that preliminary reports are that none of the injuries are life-threatening. It also says 3 were transported in critical condition.

Every engine company in the boro on this call except 153 (relocated to SQ8) 155 and 167. 167 should have been first due on this box.
I don't see 76 truck assigned, but they were on scene.
No room on the fire street, so

Hopefully the member recover quickly and from what I read the residents and their pet got out. Fortunately it happened during the day so there's less chance of people sleeping and not being aware of the fire. God bless.

Glad All members our out, sad that 3 of the Firefighter Injuries are Critical. I pray that with good care they will be alright. After the Life Hazard has been successfully delt with the firefighters become the "Life Hazard." In advanced fires in modern buildings the fire loading is such that, the short use of an Aggressive Outside Attack, must be considered. What the Chicago Fire dept. calls "Resetting the Fire" that may, allow reentry if safe, for a renewed Interior attack.
There exists the ":20 Minute Rule." In short, the ":20 Minute Rule" states if substantial progress in not being made in the fire attack in, :20 minutes, in an advanced fire in a Non fireproof building, then one of the following "R's" Must take place or be considered. Reassess, Reinforce, Reposition, Redeploy, OR Remove, Retreat members from the building. This is not a hard and fast rule, but a consideration if progress is not being made in the fire attack. The time may be < less than :20 minutes in a building with light weight construction., OR a building that has light weight roof or floor trusses or other light weight building components. One thing for sure if we have been operating for :20 minutes the fire in fact was burning for a time before we ever got there. It may have been burning for more than, :20 minutes before we even got there.

1st Guy missed what happen
2nd Had to bail from the 2nd floor balcony because the windows gave out pushed the fire quickly as we know
3rd guy pipe man knew what happen was pushing hard to get a knock and something fell and ripped his mask off and he took in a lot of smoke

Seems like this fire was similiar to the Lorraine Ave. fire a few days ago except more intense. Both occurred in attached structures with fire walls and had intense fire in the rear of the fire buildings when the fires were discovered.

Speaking at the Press Conference COD Hodgens indicated that wind was a factor blowing the fire back into the fire building onto the ff's working inside. Both buildings had a setback and the fire began between both buildings. Decks and outbuildings, are the bane of Staten Island which allow fires to grow and spread overcoming the fire wall defenses which assume that a fire will only spread to the sides of buildings.
