With regret, the Department announces the death of EMT Frederick D. Whiteside, Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) PSAC II (appointed April 19, 2002) which occurred on Friday, November 17, 2023, while on duty and operating at EMD PSAC II in the borough of the Bronx.
The heartfelt sympathy of the entire Department is extended to the family, relatives, and friends of the deceased in the midst of the great loss that they and the Department have sustained.
Funeral will take place from McManus Funeral Home, 4601 Avenue N, Brooklyn, NY, on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, followed by a service at 1100 hours at Christian Cultural Center, 12020 Flatlands Avenue, Brooklyn, NY.
Viewing Hours:
Monday, November 27, 2023 1400 to 1600 hours
and
1900 to 2100 hours

Deputy Fire Commissioners Chief of Department
John J. Hodgens

Assistant Chiefs of Department

Chaplains
Members of the Executive Boards of the Uniformed Fire Officers Association, the Uniformed Firefighters Association, and the Fire Alarm Dispatchers Union. Members of the Executive Boards of the Uniformed EMS Officers, Uniformed EMT's, Paramedics and Fire Inspectors Union.
The Pallbearers shall be eight members of the Department, selected from the member’s unit.
COLOR GUARD
The Bureau of Training shall provide the details to serve as the Color Guard. These detailed members shall report to the Ceremonial Unit Officer, in front of the Center.
