( FDNY BOX 3324 - BROOKLYN )  -  FDNY BATTLING A FEROCIOUS SUSPICIOUS MAJOR 4TH ALARM FIRE IN 3 PRIVATE DWELLINGS ON EAST 17TH STREET IN THE MIDWOOD AREA OF BROOKLYN IN NEW YORK CITY.

That video of someone running away after the house goes up is definitely interesting. Awesome rundown and videos posted. E276 moving the 33?s vehicle and giving the 10-75 and L156 giving the 2nd alarm - the Highway!

For the history buffs out there, can anyone remember when a company officer transmitted a third alarm?  In this case, it was the third due engine.  Understanding that B 41 had a long run and delayed dispatch, the companies on scene did a great job and transmitting the additional alarms.

You beat me to it, I was going to ask if anyone knows the last time an Eng. Co. Officer transmitted a 3rd Alarm

2 bldgs = 2nd Alarm ....3 bldgs = Third Alarm.

Is this a protocall?  In years past there have been job's with multiple building involved that have been 2nd's with multiple SC's.

The wording as it was written in the books was 2 bldgs = 2nd alarm ....3 bldgs STRONGLY consider a Third Alarm....3 detached bldgs with that much Fire on arrival should defintely be a Third.

Excellent video with fire ground audio by NYRRT of the early stages of the incident showing large volume of fire in the original building spreading to the exposures.

With everything in the books, isn't it still the CIC discretion to go to the next higher alarm?  If I remember correctly the dispatchers used to use a Dispatcher's Alarm (Dispatcher's 2nd. or 3rd. Alarm).
