6/17/24 Staten Island All Hands Box 1391

Don’t see that everyday. Hopefully members can re-enter quarters soon. Read from FDNY that there was a heavy fire condition in basement and that there is heavy smoke damage on first floor.

Also, kudos to the truck members for stretching from a hydrant right away before the normally second due engine arrives.

How did 83 stretch off the hydrant? Can the companies still occupy the house?
83 is in a rearmount. They normally would carry 2 or 3 rolls of hose for the ladder pipe waterway on the rare occasions that they use it. Especially considering how clean the hose is.

Wonder if they’ll put them up in the old CO for a little bit till they can clean the house up. Unless they establish some trailers somewhere close by like 287/136

All Ladder companies carry hose for ladder pipes, winter ops and water rescue operations. They would use the pressure off the fire hydrant. No they will not be back into the firehouse for a couple weeks probably.

Possible L83 might be going to the old CO, E163 might be going with TL79. I believe the truck response area was the issue was TL86 already has a huge area and hard to cover all of that.

Did L83 Back Into The Firehouse As It Was On Fire? Lol. That's What It Looks Like In The Picture.

Also, Worked In Their Favor That They Had A Hydrant Right Infront Of Quarters.. Some Firehouses Would Have To Stretch Across Busy Streets.

I don’t believe they took the truck to the wire down call. They walked

Wonder who, if anyone, was relocated to them for the time being. I’d imagine they’d fill the companies in. 163/83 are on the busier side of SI. Very Large/expansive response area.

If 163/83 have to relocate for the time being, it’s gonna leave a very large part of Staten Island uncovered.

If 83 goes to the old SI dispatch (or current?) office on Slosson they’re not so far away - only a few mins. If 163 goes to L79, they too are not so far from most of their response area. But yes, to your point, they’d be further from Seaview Hosptial area along Brielle, their Victory Blvd corridor, etc.

It’s a shame their quarters are damaged- a well kept, old firehouse.

My question is, if 163 goes to TL79, where would they fit? They’d have to be outside or in a cage. TL79 quarters is the oldest house on SI, therefore extremely tiny. Only fits TL79 and the 22 now with the 22 behind the rig. Single bay firehouse for 2 rigs currently.
