NYC/NYS to franchise this gilded Playground for Modern Oligarchs. As well as the ineffective response by these same officials ( Sen. Schumer et. al.) in the way of NYPD, FDNY, EMS, and other Community Services needed to ensure Public Safety. jw

Food Truck fire at W30 Street @ 10 Avenue earlier today. Right at corner of Hudson yards. Sent black smoke into air. Looked like 34/21 handled it.

Effective way!! New engine and ladder company forcHudsom Yards, possibly a new batallion Chief... new engine19 and Ladder 60 and Batallion 5.
The politicians need to see it as a cost of doing business. I don?t know why they can?t see it in simple terms. An area gets developed bringing in thousands of people and potentially millions in tax revenue. Some of that revenue needs to be spent which protects the property owners investments which protects the tax revenue. Adding a new station with an engine, truck, ambulance and possibly a BC is a small price to pay to insure the revenue continues to flow into the city from that area. these need to be new Company?s, other Company?s May need to be relocated to provide better coverage but the city should not expect to generate more tax revenue and be able to not have to spend some of it on FD/EMS/PD

The city did see it as a cost of doing business. They provided a school, day care, extended the 7 line and built a subway station, for example.BCR said:
The land use taxes that pay for public safety are the ones that often get deferred for development.
Resident sales and income taxes do not get deferred and are not applied to fixed property because people can move and land does not.
The city improvements were spelled out years ago. No fire station at the time.

Fire stations have been incorporated into commercial buildings at the developer's expense. There are several in NYC.

E8/L2/B8 on E51 street and E4/L15 on South street are prime examples.
