Wow, the specialty units all come in handy (communications, haz-mat, rebreather, Purple-K, etc.)

S41 was a squad assigned to firefighting on the 10-76. S18 was S/C to assist in rebreather operations. E44 was an engine on the 2nd Alarm. Did they call a Haz-Tech piece to fill out the Haz-Mat trio?

I found it remarkable that Re-breather 1 was apparently not used in
the Newark Ship Fire...
My understanding of the Re-breather paks is that they provide longer
Air Supply than Standard SCBA.
Perhaps they are considered too bulky/cumbersome for a Shipboard Fire.

I found it remarkable also that the Next Day Btn.14 '(Rebreather Trained Chief)',
was Assigned to a Sub-basement Fire on the 10-76.

I may have missed it but, I don't Recall that Specific Designation used before.

Rebreather is not supposed to be used in immediate fire area. In addition, there is issues with how hot the area is, being you are rebreathing the air. The unit uses ice, but that only goes so far. As per the chief, it’s to provide supervision. The soc battalions are trained, but so are some field battalions

Every Chief has a different background some are Hazmat qualified so if Hazmat is on another call they can assign someone else…
