EXCELLENT JOB done here by our members on covering and reporting of this massive Queens job.
Also, looks like this is the FIRST RUN for the new FDNY Super Pumper 1.

I hope that ALL of the members of the FDNY are okay.
Also thanks to the NYPD and FDNY EMS for their part in doing an excellent job too.
Oh and let's NOT forget those FDNY Fire Dispatchers, who I'm sure took dozens of calls on this, plus coordinating this entire response.

Interesting how very few relocators got in. Like a reverse of the trend from the last couple years of sending relocators in and have four or five sections of the first alarm companies.

That building, I believe, was a D.O.T. garage at one time.
Originally the Dept. of Highways building where they would process and load their trucks with either cold patch for filling potholes or process and load asphalt for repaving the streets in Queens. I had an uncle that worked out of that building for 28 years. Stunk like a skunk when he came home.

From the FDNY Facebook page:

"At approximately 10 o'clock last night, we started to receive numerous 911 calls reporting a commercial building on fire. The first engine arrived on scene in four minutes, and found a fully involved commercial building, a NYC DOT warehouse. The fire was in the roof of the building, and due to the amount of it we went to a defensive operation fairly quickly. Within 15 minutes the fire was up to a third alarm assignment. It eventually went to a fifth alarm assignment, which brought 60 units and 200 Fire and EMS personnel to the scene. We utilized something we don't do very often, we drafted water out of the bay. We were able to supply the tower ladders with the water that was being drafted. This helped us to contain and extinguish this fire. We had no injuries to civilians, no injuries to any DOT personnel. There were five non-life threatening injuries to Firefighters. Our Fire Marshals are on site investigating the cause of this fire," said FDNY Assistant Chief Joseph Ferrante, from the scene of a 5-alarm fire at 32-11 Harper Street in Queens.
