RET FDNY BC VICTOR ABBOTT....It is with regret that we announce the passing of Victor H. Abbott (January 8, 2016)
Victor was a founding member of the Retired and Active FDNY of Palm Beach County and is still listed as one of the Directors of our organization.
Victor H. Abbott. Jr. passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on January 8th, 2016. He was 84. The son of Victor H. Abbott, Sr. and Eleanor (Nolan) Abbott, he was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 4th, 1932.
He is preceded in death by his sister Eileen, and brother Joseph, as well his wife Anna Marie (Husar) Abbott, whom he married in 1960.
After graduating Erasmus High School in 1948, he sailed around the world with the US Navy Merchant Marines.
He joined the New York Fire Department in 1957. He served as Captain of the fireboat Harry M. Archer (FDNY Marine 6), eventually attained the rank of Battalion Chief, and also served as acting Deputy Chief .
Upon retiring in 1982 he moved to North Palm Beach, Florida, where he enjoyed boating and fishing, earned his private pilot's license and attained certification as a real estate broker. Vic and Anna treasured more than 30 years of retirement together traveling the world, visiting 58 countries in total. He is survived by his daughter Gabrielle Burton, sons Kevin and Brian, as well as his 4 beloved granddaughters, Kristine Burton, Megan Abbott, Lauren Abbott, and Erin Abbott. Services will be private.
