RET FF JOSEPH P. MARTIN...REST IN PEACE BROTHER....PRAYERS FOR THE COMFORT OF THE FAMILIES..... Retired FF Joseph P Martin Sr. Appointed in 1960 to E-58. Transferred to E-313 in 1973. Retired in 1976 due to a line of duty injury. He was survived by his wife Margaret, married 60 years.
His wake will be held at St James Funeral Home. Monday & Tuesday, 2-4, 7-9. Funeral Wednesday at 10a.m. Saints Philip and James Church

RET FF ROBERT SCHURTMAN

SCHURTMAN, ROBERT, PH.D / L 148 .
Psychoanalyst and FDNY firefighter, died Feb 4. As a firefighter in 1962 assigned to L 148 and in 1972 he used his passion for psychology to direct the FDNY counseling service at Pier A until retirement in 1979. Then went on as supervisor at Brooklyn VA and was a singular influence on countless future psychologists. Donations to FDNY Foundation on behalf of the FDNY 23rd St fire.

Manhattan ....Thank You for your acknowledgement Sir & Thank You for your continuously Honoring Vets....the scary thing is that a friend for many years had a few years ago said in regard to my postings of Passings "well soon you will be posting me"  & a month or so later after not getting any regular Patriotic e  mails from him like i always  did i googled his name & wound up getting  his obituary  ....one never knows ...Thank You .

I remember back when we (108) were still on Siegel St & Al was the ECC in ENG*271.....we were both at a Third Alarm in a furniture store on Myrtle Ave.....after the Fire we drove back to qtrs (a good distance as went on the Third)....after we backed into qtrs i was walking alongside the Rig & on the side running board i saw a ring just sitting there...it was Al's 20 year ring which flew off his hand as he was hooking up.....what are the chances of it sitting there all the way back ?.......REST IN PEACE BROTHER....THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE BOTH MILITARY (WW2) & FDNY..... PRAYERS FOR THE COMFORT OF THE FAMILIES...... His Son Tom is a BC in BN*6.

Capt Maffeo was the truck captain when I was a probie.......super nice man.  I remember his son coming to the firehouse to visit.
