From what I got first hand...Actually the apparatus will not transport, so paramedic is a possibility. This is the brainstorm of the new Commissioner. Since ambulance and engine stretches will be compatible, the FD members can package the patient. If an ambulance is too far out, they will meet at a location and swap out stretchers, thus saving time, putting the engine back in service quicker. EMS and UFOA honchos are in on the concept trial basis. The UFA has not taken a position yet, but is leaning toward favor.

90% of patients can be packaged on a stair chair which takes up much less space.
Why not trial run that?
 
where does the crew ride on that engine….what is the total length of the engine, how much longer is it then what we use now. How much more difficult will it be to “hit a hydrant “and get that monstrosity out of the way of the trucks on a very tight block . I’m sure our new FC doesn’t get that concept.

I believe the Squads rigs are about 2’ longer , ask the squad chauffeur how much more difficult it can be to try and tuck the rig out of the way while taking a hydrant at times.

First let's see properly working up to date regular FF Rigs & a 5th FF in every Engine.
