FDNY 150 Ladder truck

Ladder 4 went to CTS at the ROCK last time I saw it.

Been told 136 is using 4's old ferrara as a long term spare until the new rig comes in

Why would ladder 24 and 4 be getting new rigs when these are only a few years old? Also heard that ladder 29 got another new rig as well.

The first Ferrara rear mounts of the new contract were rife with problems, all hopefully have now been corrected.

Some of the rear mount truck company spares were destroyed during sandy, money was givin to replace the spares, instead of putting brand new rigs into the spare pool, they picked the 3 or 4 (can't remember the exact companys) worst ferraras that were in service and transferred them to the spare fleet. They were all 2011's from the first batch and were plagued by problems. The 150th truck is 24 trucks original Ferrara that was transferred to the spare pool when it was a couple years old

You would've thought that for something this important and visible to the public they would've put it on a brand-new rig instead of a recycled one!  Seems like you want to put your best foot forward.

Now that's a tough choice.....brand new rig to be used as a ceremonial unit.....OR......a brand new rig replacing one that is at least 10 years old......Hmmm, let's see

Hey Bulldog, I can see where you are coming from but facing reality it makes a lot more sense to refurb an existing rig for this purpose. It most likely will never be used for any thing but a show piece and never see any fire duty.  Let us use the new rigs to replace the older well worn ones doing the fire duty.  Looking at the pictures I would say that the job done on it is outstanding and it will be a credit to the department and its members for all to see.

I think Bulldog meant buy a new rig with the decorative 150 anniversary murals like SQ61 and L10 have murals and then place it in service after the celebration period is over.

Chances are that those outside of our circle do not even know that it is not brand new.
