Wow! Amazing job on the history of 7/1. Thanks for doing this Mack. I also really enjoyed the history of 286/135 and the volunteer departments in Glendale before them. I grew near the firehouse and spent my youth chasing both companies on my bike.

Battalion 54 was organized in 1930 to cover the developing south eastern area of Queens. All of its companies were organized in the 1920's, thus it is the only battalion that is entirely comprised of 300 series numbered engine companies.
