Definitely wasn't calling you on it. Thought maybe it was a strange arrangement like some of the administrative districts or like B60 didn't have any admin companies.
Actually, by noticing the discrepancy with L58, it led to another discrepancy with L56 and BC56, and a problem with dates. All have been corrected.
All from the original typo. Your help is appreciated.

fdhistorian... I never even thought of it that way. It seemed strange to me also since they were both quartered together. The odd balls are usual like when 135 was at 319 for 4 months.
319 is in the 14 & 46
135 is in the 13 & 51

It was funny when the chiefs came to take a mark. They were lined up across from firehouse....
There have been a few odd balls over the years. (Battalions with no companies, battalions with more trucks than engines, etc)
L175's moves left BC37 with no trucks for a while. Strange things happen, especially with temporary moves.

Division 14, Queens North, was organized in 1927 to split Division 11. Two battalions, originally part of the Long Island City Fire Department and both located entirely in Queens, comprised the original Queens only division. From 1965 to 1975, the Division was split by Division 16. The entire borough, except for Far Rockaway (Battalion 47), was in Division 5 from 1995 to 1997.

Was battalion 59 in Division 13 from 1984-1989 when they were with 319?
Yes. An interesting situation.
When E319 was in the 46 Battalion, they were part of Division 14.
When E319 was in the 59 Battalion, they were part of Division 13.
They were also in the 51 Battalion in the 50's and 60's, which was in Division 13.

Interesting but not unprecedented.

In the 1940's
E291/L140 were in the 35 Battalion, part of Division 11 Brooklyn and
E286/L135 were in the 37 Battalion, part of Division 15 Brooklyn.

South Bronx Battalion

The growing FDNY began establishing companies in the Bronx in 1874. Two engine companies, two ladder companies, and four chemical engines were organized as the 10th Battalion of what is now the South Bronx.

As companies were added in Manhattan, two new battalions were organized. In order to retain the south to north numbering, Battalion 10 was renumbered as Battalion 12, keeping the high number in the Bronx.

A 12th Battalion was needed Manhattan in 1893, so the South Bronx Battalion was renumbered Battalion 13.

In 1896, a new battalion was established on the east side of the Bronx, numbered as Battalion 14.

Two years later in 1898, another battalion was established in Manhattan, so the original Bronx Battalion 13 became Battalion 14, while the east Bronx Battalion renumbered from 14 to 15.

By 1899, the South Bronx Battalion had been renumbered three times and the practice of sequential, geographic numbering for battalions was discontinued.

In 1968, a second section was established due to the War Years workload. Within a year, Battalion 14-2 became Battalion 26.

Downtown Brooklyn Battalion

Downtown Brooklyn was originally part of the 3rd District of the Brooklyn Fire Department. The 3rd District became Battalion 1 Brooklyn when merged into the FDNY. It was renumbered 21 in 1898 to eliminate duplication with Battalion 1 in Manhattan, and it was renumbered 31 in the 1906 numbering plan.

Note: Original Battalion 31, from 1898 to 1906, is the present Battalion 41.

Was there a specific reason E205/L118 changed from the 31 Batt to the 32 Batt in 1989? Looks like they were in the 31 for years before that. I’ve always thought they were in the 31 because they’re so much closer to the 31’s quarters than 32. As we know that doesn’t always dictate everything but still.

The 4th Battalion covers Manhattan's Lower East Side, an area bounded by Chinatown, East Village, the Bowery, Alphabet City and Little Italy. A vibrant immigrant neighborhood with a wealth of history, it continues to be one of the great melting pots.

The 4th Battalion covers Manhattan's Lower East Side, an area bounded by Chinatown, East Village, the Bowery, Alphabet City and Little Italy. A vibrant immigrant neighborhood with a wealth of history, it continues to be one of the great melting pots.

The Bronx Division has been numbered 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9, but the longest and most continuous identity has been and is Division 7. At various times it has been split into two divisions, north and south, and into three divisions, north, south and east. It has often included northern Manhattan Battalions 13 and 16.

The Bronx is the only part of New York City located on the mainland. Surrounded by water on three sides, and including several inhabited islands, it is the only borough that has not had an FDNY fireboat stationed on its shores.

Prior to having a Division quartered in the borough, the Bronx was part of Manhattan's 3rd Division. The original Division 7 (1898 - 1906) became Brooklyn Division 11 and the next Division 7 (1907 - 1908) became Staten Island Division 8.
