North Flushing (Murray Hill):

Flushing:

On October 10, 1645, Flushing was established on the eastern bank of Flushing Creek under charter of the Dutch West India Company and was part of the New Netherland colony. The settlement was named after the city of Vlissingen, in the southwestern Netherlands, the main port of the company.

Thanks Brad.

That coupling in the photo was from the January, 1967 Jamaica Gas Leak and Explosion described in Replies # 807 and # 808. It was on display during our recent get Together on May 11th.

Retired Chief Bob Manson (*******) on here allowed us to display it. Chief Manson was working as a Firefighter at the time with Ladder Co 127. You can see the force of the explosion actually bent this solid brass coupling.
