Just as a side note, the FF standing by the door is in full dress uniform. Back in the day the house watch had to wear the whole "bag" including the uniform cap. Times have changed,eh.

May of 1944 saw E211, E251 & L119 move to a former commercial laundry bldg. at 26 Hooper St., Feb. 26, 1945 saw E8 go to L2 (2 bay FH at 126 E. 50th St.), Nov. 1, 1946 saw disbandment of L26(2), E91(2) & E283(2). Jan 1, 1947 saw disbandment of E4, E19, E20, E25, E29, E76(2). March 1, 1947- L116 moved from 38-11 Northern Blvd. to E261 @37-20-29th St.; Feb 9, 1948- E214 moved from 231 Herkimer St. to L111 @399 Halsey St.(E214's 1938 Ahrens-Fox didn't fit in FH so they swapped with E222 for 222's 1920's ALF); In Nov. 1948 there was a consolidation of a few firehouses: E13 from Wooster St. to L20 @155 Mercer St. (house was once home to a double L20). E60 from 352 E. 137th St. to L17 @341 E. 143rd St.(2 bay former double ladder FH). Nov. 22, 1948- L9 moved from 209 Elizabeth St. to Engine 33's big 2 bay FH.
