FDNY Strategic Plan 2025

All channels are already in place. They have a TAC channel for each division not sure how that works with numerous calls going on in each division. When companies switch to the 800 backup it’s the new encrypted frequency but it’s being patched thru so everyone can hear it since not all rigs have the new radios. So far every front line Engines, Ladders, Battalion, SOC Units have the new radios. More like support units don’t have the new radios like Decon Support, Pick Up Trucks, Spare vehicles minor stuff.
If they encrypt the fire and ems dispatches why can't they play them back not encrypted with lets say a 5 minute delay ? That would mean they had to record and decrypt the communiucations and the playback would be unencrypted. That process would seen to take care of the potential for interference since the unencrypted voice communications would be from a tape rather than live. Same issue with NYPD. If they can spend mega millions on encryption I don't see why they can't spend a few more millions to preserve public access and accountability. The walkie talkie comms can remain encrypted. I am only talking about the main dispacth radio channels for FDNY, NYPD and EMS.

Any clue if the following is in the works or something for the future? Wonder how many initiatives will change or whither with a new FC coming aboard?

“Develop a Universal Set of Operational Boundaries and Radio Codes for Fire and EMS

Fire and EMS are currently organized into separate operational boundaries, and they operate with different sets of radio 10-codes. This initiative will unify operations to increase efficiency and communication, and reduce confusion.“

Anything that the current Administration/Commissioner could change within days or weeks with the new Administration, so everything that was in the 2025 Strategic Plan could be thrown out of the window.

If I remember correctly, in the April Zoom Meeting for the forum, a member mentioned that he had started to develop a universal set back when EMS was first merged with the FDNY, obviously this never happened, unsure who the member was
