Tbendick, Thank you very much for keeping us all updated. Am I correct in thinking that the only two questionable frequencies are Bronx North and Queens East EMS. All the rest are the correct frequencies and pls. Besides myself, I know a few other buffs out there that are really thankful to you. And I guess for a while everything will be simulcast on both VHF and UHF before the actual change over occur es. Hopefully, we will all be ready for that when it happens. Thanks Guy.

I dont know if this will be permanent. Do not know why there are two CW channels. I am not picking any interference frok other boroughs. To me, it sounds the same as VHF.

There is some bleed over on the Bronx UHF from Brooklyn.  Put a PL tone on and it should go away.

There will be two Citywides on the new system, just like EMS has now. This was a recommendation after 9/11.

If a Boro goes down then units would Switch to something like Citywide 2 and Citywide 1 would keep it's normal traffic. Unlike now when they have to use Citywide for a boro you lose that extra channel.

"Does anyone have the mobile freq. offsets?"

Each repeater input channel is 3 MHz higher than the output frequency, although the UHF channels are now simulcasting the VHF channels.  Mobile units are not yet transmitting on UHF.

The simulcast will probably last a while, until all mobile radios are changed out.
So why should online scanning sites have a problem then?  UHF scanners are just as common as VHF scanners, most have capabilities for both and since FDNY is not going to be using digital it shouldn't be a problem to scan.

The Bravest doesn't use scanners, the last I knew they had actual VHF radios hooked up to their feed.  Unfortunately I do not know if they have switched to scanners or are still using mobile radios for their feeds.

No matter what they use to receive the signal they still should be able to receive and provide a feed as long as they have a receiver for the correct frequency since no encryption or anything like that is going to be used.

In the programming mode, press the mode button.  Goto CT and it will show search and then just wait till they talk and hit enter to look it in.  You can also pres Func Mode to input the pl.

I checked out the UHF channels on my scanner, they sound pretty good.  I normally don't get the Bronx down here unless it's covered with static but I get it crystal clear now.  Only problem is I don't seem to get SI anymore, which is strange because I got SI pretty decently on VHF.

Brooklyn and Manhattan come in extremely clear and loud for me know as under the vhf i would never pick them up,queens is normal and i havent heard any si traffic
