Fire consumed a North Masapequa (Long Island) firehouse Christmas morning. Wiped out two engines and a Tower Ladder.

p

Just throwing this out...not finger pointing...BUT, WHY DO WE NOT HAVE SPRINKLERS IN OUR OWN FIREHOUSES TO SAVE OUR EXPENSIVE EQUIPMENT, ESPECIALLY WHEN WE TELL EVERYONE ELSE THE IMPORTANCE OF A WORKING SPRINKLER SYSTEM?

How many firehouse dormitories still have only one stairway through the apparatus floor, unprotected vertical openings, no sprinklers, no fire alarms or detection?
