Several years ago PBS did a 2 hour show on Nova showing the rebuilding process. They actually used scenes from a video game to help in the re-building.

If i remember correctly, shortly before the fire, someone did a 360 scan of the entire structure which helped also.

I wonder if that was what they used for the game "Assassin's Creed"?

I think they did. When I googled it it came up as being scanned for a video game, but I don't remember what game off hand.
