They do have some big trucks out there in the vollies. I rember my father saying when he was a kid they had some ex-military half tracks as the work trucks. Good luck getting that stuck haha

Chief K is 100% right.  Even up until the storm, the job will not equip the Sand rig with the right tires.  It needs the fat sand tires like the vollies have.  They never get stuck.  Ask a 329 guy- it's 50-50 if they drive it into the sand.  Useless!

Any news are how the build is going
Somebody will post the information when they have it.  Just keeping to ask the same question doesn't do any good.

Has anyone seen or heard anything more about this unit?  It should have been delivered by now considering it was nearing completion in the middle of February.  It would certainly be great to see what it looks like finished and equipped.

There were some pictures on Facebook a couple weeks ago, not sure if it was at the shop or still at kME when the pictures were taken but it was complete and appeared from the pictures to be identical to the previous rig

Most of the buildings are distant from the hydrant in Engine 329's area. This piece of apparatus drops a line from the hydrant on the main road and winds up near the fire building, so some truck equipment is nice to have at the scene. The pumper could be more than a block away even though they are first due.

It looks like it is the same as the old one, if it is equipped the same, on the racks were a 24 ft extension ladder, a stokes basket and a surf board for water rescue. I may be wrong but I think it carries just about everything a basic engine company carries as well as water rescue gear

When the '86 GMC/Ward Sand Vehicle was in service it had no ladders on it.....the regular 329 Pumper had the standard '24 extension that all ENGs carry plus a '35 extension mounted over the middle of the hose bed.
