My first job too Johnny. Some guy was telling us that it was the Chicago fire. But he must have been lost because we were in the Bronx and NOT Chicago. I think where Co Op City is today.

In fact I think they lite the place up twice that day because it came in again. So I went to work pumping that old rig a second time that day.

Thank you Johnny Gage for bringing us the joy of these Throwback Thursdays. You started this last September, 2019 and it has caught the attention of many members. It was great that you were able to take us back in a time that many of us remember. The pictures and your comments were GREAT. Since you first began this topic, the views have reached over 69,000 in less than one years time. Quite an accomplishment.

Of course your "Glory Days" and "Vintage FDNY War Lids" have been some of your other amazing topics on here as well.

My "favorite" Throwback Thursday photo was # 56 here with the Chicago Fire reenactment at the Freedomland Amusement Park. Now home to Co-Op City in the Bronx. I guess I was about 6 or 7 years old, where I got to help pump my first fire - the historic Chicago Fire using those hand pumpers. A bunch of us kids grabbed the long handle on one side and a bunch of kids grabbed the long handle on the other side. Up and down and the water came out of the hose for the fireman and some other kids to put out that fire.

Thank you Mr Gage for all the effort you have put into this for us.
