VINTAGE FDNY RIG PHOTOS.

Cannot open the link but would like to
You credit " make p"... Is that a person or a business?
I don't know why the link expired ? .....it was a picture of the First Section of ENG*91 when there were Two Section's of 91 (the late '60s early '70s version's) the credit was to "MIKE P." RET FF LAD*26.

Thank you Chief. I know a Mike P who served in 91-2 at the time, thought it might be him. If I remember correctly 91-1 had a Mack C model from the early '60s.

I believe this is the 1953 model as the headlights are embedded in the front fenders. '51 and 52s had them raised up off the chassis. 91-2 ran with one of these before they got their Big Bertha Mack.

From the same collection, this is the rig I cut my teeth on as a kid riding with my "Uncle Jack", sitting between legends Charlie McCrthy and Lt then Capt Bob Farrell. Imagine 13 years old getting an incredible education from the front seat of this tiller of firehouse brotherhood, ghetto life and mankind zipping through this neighborhood at a remarkable time. The Proby is Mel Hazel. He used to come to the firehouse even when he was not working to visit and hang out with me. He received a department Medal for a rope rescue using the newly issued personal harness. Once I was hired by FDNY we lost touch, but miraculously reunited on 9/11 just before the north Tower came down almost taking both of us out of the picture...Mel retired as a Fire Marshal. He and I still keep in touch after all these years and profiled in my book. Great phot, captures the essence of a special time.

Johnny, you certainly went to the right school back when you were 13 years old riding with Uncle Jack.
