Bronx getting multiple calls for smoke in the area

3rd Alarm transmitted around 14:05

Progress report 14:25 - Comment still has heavy fire in the rear, very limited access to the rear which is Van Cortlandt Park, they have 2 lines operating from the rear fire escapes trying to hit it.

4th Alarm transmitted around 15:00

Looks like a real border box. The woods literally behind the building is the city line between BX/Yonkers.

Mutual is coming from E-81 quarters, the FDNY will send out box 3000 for mutual request and units go to 81 and then respond as a group to incident. Many calls for smoke in that north area of Riverdale. FDNY Arrived with Yonkers a few years back to a similar fire different address and FDNY was told to take up and I remember watching late night news showing the building fully involved with 2 doa and we sat in quarters. The back of this building is the northern end of Van Cortland Park which is Bronx end.

Heard from member that 81 was sent to open a hydrant nearby fire, still not usual protocol for mutual aid but if request was approved by downtown then one engine could be sent.

1328hrs- YPD unit in rear parking lot on unrelated assignment reports a male just exited the rear, top floor fire escape and is reporting a fire.
E-304, 303, 306, 307; L-74, 71; Squad 11, R-1, B-1

1330hrs- YPD unit now rpts fire out the windows. One male removed from fire escape with burns, req. EMS.

1332hrs- E-304 transmitting 10-29, smoke showing from the rear.
L-75FAST, B-2 SAFETY

1333hrs- B-1 req L-75 to enter from South Broadway.

1335hrs- B-1 transmitting 10-30 (All Hands)

1338hrs- B-1 getting report of a woman trapped in Apt. 6C

1340hrs- B-1 rpts fire in Apt. 6B, fire out windows in the rear. (1) victim with minor burns IFO.

1349hrs- B-1 S/C extra Engine, hit a hydrant on west side of Broadway and feed L-75.

1355hrs- B-1 transmitting 2nd Alarm. First engine on 2nd to hit a hydrant on South Broadway, 2nd engine to the front of the building.

1400hrs- Car 3 rpts now IC, B-1 Operations, B-2 Safety

1400hrs- Car 3 transmitting 3rd Alarm

1402hrs- NYPD req to shut Broadway at the city line.

1406hrs- Car 3 rpts fire top floor and into the cockloft. 3rd Alarm companies enter from Landscape Ave and report to the front of the building.
Exposure #1- Street, #2 similar, #3 rear yard/lot, #4 similar with 1-foot separation. (1) master stream in operation, (6) handlines stretched.

1423hrs- Car 3 rpts still have heavy fire in the cockloft in the rear #3 side with limited access to the rear. (1) handline operating from Exposure #4 roof. (2) lines in operation from rear fire escapes. Making progress.

1505hrs- Car 3 transmitting 4th Alarm. Companies to enter from Landscape Ave
4th Alarm: E-310, L-70

1511hrs- Car 3 rpts all companies still working. Heavy fire in the 2/3 corner, 3/4 corner in the rear. (3) master streams, (2) LSO interior, (1) on Exposure #4.

1521hrs- YFD recall members have E-300 in service at Station 1.

1530hrs- YFD recall members have L-78 and R-2 in service.

1535hrs- Car 3 rpts heavy fire 6th floor and roof.

1540hrs- New Rochelle companies relocating to Station 3.

1546hrs- 357 North Broadway- report of smoke in the basement boiler room.

1553hrs- B-1 req. FDNY for Engine to assist E-309 with hydrant on Broadway.
FDNY E-81

1606hrs- Car 3 rpts roll call underway.

1620hrs- Car 3 rpts all members accounted for.

1701hrs- Car 3 rpts a large portion of the roof has burned off. Co's making way to the 6th floor with handlines. Releasing FDNY E-81.

1746hrs- Car 3 rpts fire under control. Shutting down master streams. Hitting pockets of fire. S/C E-300 and R-2 (recall manpower) to the scene for relief.
