    Usually they're removed after a period of mourning. In my experience the tape starts peeling. Also, if you leave it in too long it can affect the underlying paint and decals.

    The hospital isn't completely closing, but the ER is. Also compared to much of city, lower Manhattan is very saturated with hospitals which I'm sure cut into their profits. Plus Mt. Sinai now owns four hospitals in the Manhattan and likely wants to consolidate resources.
