    10/8/22 Queens 4th Alarm Box 4047

There’s always a discussion about putting the FAST truck to work but I think at a fast moving fire with exposure problems it’s absolutely the right criteria 👍

    10/4/22 Brooklyn 3rd Alarm Box 3299

Fire was in the walls between the kitchen of the Restaurant and the Army center. The kitchen was towards the rear of exposure 1. There was plenty of smoke but Citizen only shows the front of the building. Had to cut holes in the floor and the roof in addition to fans.

RAC 5 plenty closer than 3, but maybe kept on the island to keep the brothers of Richmond hydrated. It’s not in 242 anymore right?

Yup. Any NYCHA complex with a courtyard and limited hydrants is challenging. The map of the complex helps a lot. Although now I see guys type the address into the IPAD. I dont say anything as it doesnt bother me.

Need a map up front in the cab for the Chauffeur to glance at for ten seconds prior to leaving.

    8/12/22 Manhattan 10-75 Box 131

Engine 9 Ladder 6 should be first due here. After that it gets tricky. Its right on the border of Batt 1 and Batt 4 units. Engine 55 is in the mix too. I’d guess the rundown is: E’s: 9, 55, 6, 15 L’s: 6, 1 or 18, 15F although if its a 100 series box, Ladder 18 probably isn’t on the ticket at...

Amazing FDNY terminology which stood the test of time

The young guys don’t announce the box number anymore at the housewatch. I think it’s fairly important, but will concede it is a bit redundant if announcing the address right after it.

Borderline box between 28/11 and 15/18. I believe all of Baruch Drive though is 15/18. Unless the very top of it is 28/11? I forget I feel like the next block Baruch PLACE is 28/11 first due because its closer to Houston Street. And I remember going to jobs in the big Womans Shelter/H-Type and...

    7/20/22 Manhattan All Hands/UC Box 415

Incinerator fires are still in the books but after 20 years of responding to NYCHA buildings I have not encountered an active one. I am not sure what code calls for but I’m assuming NYCHA has converted all of them to regular compactors - without the burning.
