As far as I know NYS fire not have any equipment of their own other than what is it the state fire Academy. They haven't structured statewide that teach a wide range of courses to both volunteers and paid firefighters. I'm wondering if that equipment is actually from the National Guard that was...
Monroe County New York (Rochester) again has sent teams (6) to help Buffalo and surrounding communities. They are going to stay there a minimum of 3 days, possibly longer depending on how the situation develops.
Schenectady sure has a lot of new equipment, even their reserve fleet is significantly less than 10 years old. Any idea where they got the key huge influx of money?
Interesting system they have to steadily below the station siren in the event of a fire alarm! Obviously not quite as good as direct connection to dispatch or a monitoring service but certainly better than nothing.
This certainly makes a lot more sense that electric trucks do. If the Chiefs car runs low on battery power so what but if a fire truck runs low you could have significant problems! Besides it looks like the chief in Durham got himself a nice new hotrod! An electric F-150 with a topper in the...
I remember watching this on television when it happened, of course I was only 6 years old time so I didn't quite comprehend that was happening. I forget, was a cancellation ever put back in service after this fire or was it scrapped like the Bon Hom Richard (Sp) was after its fire after the...
I certainly agree this is excellent news and should have happened a long time ago but I have to laugh how may have to put things like this into bills completely unrelated to pass them. Just another demonstration of how screwed up Washington really is! This bill should have been a stand-alone...
I don't know the circumstances about that firefighter death during training but I do know that the instructors at the NYS Academy are very well trained and have national certifications. I'm guessing that probably isn't true for this training in Utica.
ABCs normally have the same roles as a Battalion Chief would, if FC made a statement such as you mentioned it could be because he was going to be assigned to a special duty that needed additional training. Something such as foam operations, roof operations, etc. I've never heard this happen...
I'm surprised to see that since New York State had a very nice Academy that many different departments from across the state send new recruit to for training. It very centrally located and probably only about 50 or 60 miles from Utica.
It would be nice if they would provide information showing how the ones they are now mandating are safer than the leather helmets. Of course they probably won't but it would certainly be nice.
