It seems like 22 minutes for the 1st engine company to get to the 11th floor is a long time. I wonder if that's the time until they declared the fire under control?
The problem is even though the population is diminished the buildings didn't magically go away. Because of this, EMS calls have probably diminished but fire calls probably have increased because of the number of vacant buildings.
I just read elsewhere this morning that the rescue assets from...
I read that Monroe County New York (Rochester area) sent a task force of rescue equipment and vehicles including multiple Polaris vehicles to assist Buffalo. Rochester is about 75 miles East of Buffalo and just received a trace of snow.
I found a written up before, I think maybe in Fire Engineering. It may work if you have the loader already around but if you don't there are many other options that are much more cost-effective. Also, anyone who was ever driven a skid steer will tell you that having that much weight on the front...
I'm not sure why they didn't make the rescue from the tower ladder in the 1st place. It was certainly in a better position and would have been a much safer way to make the rescue. It also would've been much quicker. Of course determining operational effectiveness from somebody who was not at...
Actually, responsibility falls to the control tower on this 1. They should have situational awareness of the movement of all planes and vehicles on the runways. They obviously didn't have in this case.
I was a member of a VFD outside of Rochester New York many times in the winter when we had a big storm we had a Snowmobile in front of the 1st due engine company! It got you there a lot faster in most cases.
I don't understand why they make such a big deal about the 1st Asian-American chief, female chief, etc. they all are fire department members and should be all treated the same. Just because they are different race etc. shouldn't mean anything! I know it's breaking down barriers but....
Latest reports are that they were five people on the B-17 and one on the P-63.
Here's a link to live video from the scene: https://www.wfaa.com/article/news/local/dallas-plane-crash-dallas-executive-airport-rbd/287-1d54f7a6-05ad-40ee-a02b-961874c52bea?ref=exit-recirc
Developing story, a B-17 and a P-63 collided while performing as the Wings Over Dallas airshow. Both planes plummeted to the ground. No reports yet as how many casualties but over 40 fire/rescue units are responding...
I certainly believe it's a church because it was a FH the large door should be below the sign on the front of the building. That everything that I door large enough for apparatus. Do we even know what city it's from?
I lived in France for a couple of years and their fire department is run much more like a military unit compared to American fire departments. They all line up for morning calisthenics etc. Certainly not how we think about fire department operating here.
