In 1988, five ladder companies, one in each borough we're designated to assist the rescue companies. I imagine these were the predecessors to the current SSLs. Does anyone know what companies these were and what their roles were?
Not just NYC, the currently there is work on America's largest timber building just across the river in Newark, NJ. At 11 floors it'll be twice the size of the former title holder.
